Our situation has not changed: We still have too much work to do. This is why we have not spent any more time on redesigning our website. Instead, we have spent more time on making our customers happy. The technical literature about steel wire ropes found on this website still seams to be very popular all over the world. We get very favourable comments even from countries we have never heard of before. We want to keep it like that. In a few weeks, Roland will publish more brochures on rope related subjects. From March 22nd to March 24th 2011, the 2011 OIPEEC Conference will be held in conjunction with the Marine Technology Society (MTS) at the Offshore Technology Research Center (OTRC) at Texas A & M University, College Station, Texas.

Celebrating the 175th birthday of wire rope, OIPEEC, the International Organisation for the Fatigue Study of Ropes in cooperation with the Institute for Materials Handling and Logistics of the University of Stuttgart, will hold a conference with the topic "Innovative ropes and rope solutions". www.oipeec.org
Roland Verreet will give a presentation on redundant reeving systems to NASA engineers and to members of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) at Kennedy Space Center.
Roland is also invited by NASA to watch a Space Shuttle launch the following day. Don«t ever say that wire rope is a boring subject!

Kennedy Space Center, Florida
On Friday, 6 January 2012, Mr. Roland Verreet was presented with a token of appreciation from NASA Kennedy Space Center. The presentation was made by Mr. Robert D. Cabana, the Director of the Kennedy Space Center.
The plaque was custom- made for Roland and reads:
Presented to Roland Verreet with Grateful Thanks from Your Friends at NASA Kennedy Space Center, Florida†“This 5/8†stainless steel wire rope from the West 30-Ton Bridge Crane in the Space Station Processing Facility at Kennedy Space Center lifted major components of the International Space Station from 1995 through 2009.
A stainless steel rope of the Space Station Assembly crane is attached to the plaque.
Special significance of the various photos and presentation by Mr. Cabana:
- The lower right photo is the European Space Agency's research laboratory, Columbus Module, being processed while on the hook of the 30-ton bridge crane in the Space Station Processing Facility.
- The large photo of the Space Shuttle launch is of STS-122 carrying the Columbus Module in its payload bay.
- The composite photo of the International Space Station superimposed over the Florida peninsula shows Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral, under the center of the station.
Mr. Cabana flew a Space Shuttle 4 times (STS-41 Discovery, STS-53 Discovery, STS-65 Columbia and STS-88). He was the Mission Commander of STS-88, the first International Space Station assembly mission.
Roland considers this a great distinction. He loves to work with the NASA engineers who are a bit smarter than the rest of us.
